- Use a detangling conditioner. Bathing your Goldendoodle at least once a week and letting the detangler settle in can help immensely for softening tangles.
- Brush with the hair. Brushing against the hair can be uncomfortable and even painful, and can actually lead to more knots.
- Don’t forget the hidden areas. Ears, belly, and legs are often overlooked or left out, but some of the worst matting can occur here. Be sure to cover all areas!
- Give positive reinforcement. Some dogs enjoy being groomed, but others really don’t. When your Goldendoodle is a good boy or girl, praise them and offer a treat. It will make the experience more tolerable for them, and easier for you.
